What Are Home Groups?

Home Groups are small gatherings that meet primarily in homes to cultivate biblical community through fellowship, prayer, and the study of God’s Word. In the spirit of Acts 2, these groups exist to strengthen our church body beyond Sunday morning worship by creating space for discipleship, care, and meaningful relationships.

Who Can Attend?

Anyone is welcome to attend a Home Group. Membership at East Avenue Baptist Church is not required to participate. However, we strongly encourage members of East Avenue to commit to a Home Group as a regular part of church life.

What Does A Home Group Look Like?

While each group may feel a bit different based on the host and participants, a typical Home Group gathering includes shared food, informal conversation, prayer requests and prayer, and approximately 30–60 minutes of Bible study and discussion. Meeting times and frequency are determined by each group.

What Do Home Groups Study?

This will vary by Home Group. Some Home Groups may study the passage preached during Sunday worship, a book of the Bible for a season, or a church-approved resource addressing topics such as doctrine, Christian living, marriage, parenting, evangelism, or prayer. All teaching material used in Home Groups must be approved by the elders of East Avenue Baptist Church.
